SANTA BARBARA, CA, Montecito Trails Foundation is pleased to announce Chumash Trails Day, Old Trails, New Soles, which will take place on October 10, in honor of Indigenous People's Day in Santa Barbara.

 

MTF is grateful to receive funding from Santa Barbara Foundation, to partner with the Tribal Trust Foundation in the creative energy behind the project, and have had the great fortune to receive counsel from members of the Barbereño Band of Chumash Indians and others along with the financial support of Santa Barbara Foundation in order to share their essential perspective in bringing Chumash Trails Day to life. “We hope this events helps build a bridge for trails users and community members between the history of the Chumash in the front country of Montecito, the culture of the Chumash people which is very much alive today, and members of the Chumash community in our area,” said Kristine Sperling, member of the Board of Directors of MTF.
